    In 2021, there were 162 organizations of rehabilitation treatment and medical rehabilitation in the Republic of Kazakhstan, including 99 sanatoriums, 25 rehabilitation centers, 21 other organizations, 9 dispensaries and 8 specialized sanatoriums.

    In the reporting year, the number of doctors of sanatorium organizations in these organizations amounted to 537 people, including 357 women (66.5%). The number of paramedical personnel amounted to 1973 people, including 1804 women (91.4%).

    In 2021, the number of sanatorium beds amounted to 19681 units, including 3789 sanatorium beds for children.
    The number of people treated (rested) for the year amounted to 319,960 people, of which 186,691 were women, 59 non-residents, and 6,006 people in a day hospital.

    Glossary

    Bed-days spent – the number of permanent sanatorium beds used and the summation of the number of bed-days spent by all visitors. Services - activities aimed at meeting any needs of a person or society as a whole.

    Bed-day – the day when the placed bed is occupied by a person who has been treated (rested), who is on full (round-the-clock) inpatient treatment, from the day of admission and each subsequent day of stay in a sanatorium-resort organization, except for the days of discharge or transfer.
