Inflation in the Republic of Kazakhstan

In April 2024, the monthly consumer price index slowed down and amounted to 0.6% (in March of this year – 0.7%). Prices for non-food products and paid services increased by 0.7%, food products - by 0.3%.

Price increase in April of this year marked on the TV by 26.9%, ironing board – by 9%, iron – by 6.2%. Level price​ for clothing and footwear increased by 0.9%, medicines, personal goods – 0.8% each.

In the field of housing and communal services, tariffs for electricity increased by 2.3%, water disposal - by 1.1%, payment for housing maintenance - by 1.6%. Bathhouse services increased in price by 2.8%, healthcare – by 1.4%, hairdressing and beauty salons – by 1.2%.

Among food products, price increases were observed for carrots by 4.9%, cabbage – by 4.2%, apples – by 3.3%, grapes – by 2.5%. Prices for granulated sugar increased by 3.7%, confectionery products - by 2.8%, mineral and drinking water - by 2.5%, butter - by 1.1%. Cucumbers fell in price by 16.3%, onions - by 10%, tomatoes - by 4.3%, eggs - by 3.2%, sunflower oil - by 2.9%, buckwheat - by 2.8%.

Among the regions, the highest monthly inflation was registered in the Zhetisu region - 1.1% (above the republican average by 0.5 percentage points ), the lowest - in the Abay, Pavlodar and Turkestan regions - 0.3% each.

By region, prices for food products increased the most in the Zhetisu region by 0.9%, non-food products - in the Mangistau and Karaganda regions by 1.1% each, paid services - in the Akmola region by 2.5%.



Inflation in April 2024 on an annualized basis amounted to 8.7%. Prices for paid services increased by 13.5%, non-food products - by 7.6%, food products - by 6.3%.

Compared to April 2023, tariffs for sewerage increased by 43.6%, cold water - by 36.9%, central heating - by 33.5%, hot water - by 31%, garbage removal - by 30.7%, electricity - by 29%. Prices for acetylsalicylic acid increased by 65.3%, paracetamol - by 33.3%, activated carbon - by 32%. Grapes rose in price by 39.7%, cabbage - by 25.3%, carrots - by 20.2%, rice - by 19.8%, apples - by 19.1%, tobacco products - by 16.2%. On the contrary, in annual terms, onions fell in price by 51.1%, buckwheat - by 24.4%, tomatoes - by 7.5%, cucumbers - by 6.9%.

The consumer price index, which characterizes the level of inflation, is calculated monthly. Observations are carried out on tariffs and prices for services and goods, for a total of 508 items. Dynamic changes in inflation can be viewed on a specially designed interactive yes board , which covers indicators starting from 2018.
